Travel Leadership Summit a Success

Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau Executive Director, Dan Carter, attended the 2nd Annual Travel Leadership Summit last week representing Madera County and Rural Tourism in Central California. Hundreds of travel industry professionals gathered at the Washington D.C. Convention Center to urge Congress to pass bills S. 1661 and H.R. 3232 collectively known as the Travel Promotion Act of 2007. "The United States of America is the only developed nation in the world that does not have a national tourism office actively marketing our country to world travelers," says Carter.

Statistics shared at the Travel Leaders Summit show that while world travel is up 20% since 9/11, the U.S. continues to lag behind the average increase in travelers to other countries.
